Food waste scheme in Borough of Spelthorne intro

Food waste scheme was launched in Oct 2011

the aim was to increase the recycle rate of Spelthorne borough up from measely 35%.
I was the lead member (Chairman) of the Task group to look at the way of increasing the recycle rate with the introduction of food waste scheme.
We introduced food 2 caddies, one for the kitchen for tranporting food waste an another for outside, introduced weekly collection. With many meetings, co-ordination, co-operations with the officers and staff of Spelthorne Borough Council. We did it.

We bought new lorries, new bins, new staff, excellent PR and advertisement and converted many skepics. Finally It was launched in October 2011. By Jan 2012 we increase the recycle rate by 4%, we were euphoric with minor problems. Now our recycle rate is 46.6%.
Major sucess.
Thank you to all our residents, we could not have done this without you and hard working staff of the Council. Nigel Lynn, Sandy Muirhead, Jackie Taylor, were simply fantastic.
Thanks to Cllr Gething, Bushnell, Dunn, Rough & Bannister.

Clockhouse Lane bridge walk way issue

Long term issue with the menance of HGV and other traffic blighting clockhouse lane causing danger for pedestrian crossing the bridge to Bedfont Lakes and Princess Club.
The bridge walk is death trap, a safe walk way is needed now.
Soon I will have good news to share with the residence of Ashford :)

HGV menance Feltham Road, Ashford

HGV menance feltham road, clock house lane. The damage is unmeasurable, cause stress, noise pollution, damage to the property due to lorries roaring down the lane.
Surrey county council agreed to put speed restriction in 2008, but ignored the needs of the residents and did not enforce the ban, So we took the fight to them again :)
Cllr Asif Ayub (me), Cllr Chris Fraser and County Councillor Carol Coleman mobiles hundreds of local residents and businesses and lobbied Surrey County Council....
We WON :)
We have now speed limits signs been put up, HGV companies informed about the restriction.
Total ban is not possible but we manage to reduce speed, leading to sanity coming back to Feltham road residents...
Thanks to all the people who signed our petition.

No parking meters in Ashford

We took the fight to Surrey County Council, we mobilise over 4000 residents and business to stop the menance of Parking meters when there is no need NOW.
We WON :)
Thank you to all our hard working friends, residents. It would not have been possible without them.
